章丘大葱“现身”冬奥会餐桌 | Zhangqiu scallions on Winter Games' menus
Scallions from Zhangqiu district in Jinan, East China's Shandong province, were recently served on the tables at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
近日，冬奥会餐桌上再现济南元素——由济南清绣园农业科技集团有限公司选送的“章丘大葱”。
Because the food safety and quality criteria at the Winter Games are highly strict, it is a firm acknowledgement of the Zhangqiu scallion's green, organic, and pollution-free qualities.

一方水土丨Suitable planting environment
According to records, scallion planting first appeared in Zhangqiu in approximately 680 BC. During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), the vegetable became famous all over the country and was served as a tribute to the imperial court, which made Zhangqiu the home of scallion.
据记载，公元前680年左右，大葱种植传入章丘，到明代已经名扬全国，成为朝廷贡品，并被明世宗御封为“葱中之王”，章丘成为名副其实的“大葱之乡”。
The scallion is primarily grown in Zhangqiu district's central plain area, which has fertile soil and gushing springs. The sunshine lasts for a long time and is plentiful, which creates an ideal environment for scallions.
章丘大葱主要产于中部的平原地区，范围内地势平坦，土壤肥沃，泉水潺潺，生态优美。同时，区域内日照时间长，光照充足，是章丘大葱生长的理想环境。

科技创新丨Technological innovation
Scallion farming has also benefited from technological advancements.
五谷丰登，不仅仅来自风调雨顺的自然馈赠，更需要为农业插上科技的翅膀。
Zhangqiu district has been stepping up its efforts to cultivate high-quality scallion seeds, complete seed cultivation systems in factories, and encourage robotic planting and harvesting.
种子是农业的“芯片”。章丘培育优质良种，完善工厂化育苗技术体系，推行大葱种植全程机械化生产。
To date, approximately 80 square kilometers of scallion have been planted in Zhangqiu district, with an annual yield of 600,000 tons and an annual output value of nearly 1.2 billion yuan ($189.41 million).
如今，章丘大葱种植总面积近80平方公里，年产量达到60万吨，实现年产值近12亿元。

品牌建设丨Brand building
Every year in early winter, during the scallion harvest season, Zhangqiu district holds cultural and tourism events to promote its scallions. Farmers are given awards such as best grower and best seller of Zhangqiu scallions in order to inspire them and increase the influence of the Zhangqiu scallion.
每年初冬，大葱收获时节，章丘都会举办章丘大葱文化旅游节。通过农业专家进行测量评审，评选奖励大葱种植状元、销售大户等，激发葱农种植积极性，增强品牌影响力。
